Charity of the Year
Provided below are guidelines for charities interested in applying as our charity of the year partner. If you wish for your charity to be considered please read the information below to ensure you meet the criteria.
The information below gives an overview of the things we are looking for with a charity partner.
Criteria
- You must be a UK charity with national coverage.
- The fundraising target would be in the region of £100,000 and you should provide information on a specific project or projects that we can solely support. In the past we have provided a playroom, a 3-year arts programme and a helpline.
- We have over 1300 branches and 9 key locations across the country. You should be able to provide innovative fundraising campaigns and volunteering opportunities for both branch and head office sites, preferably with a regional focus in some or all of the following areas: Belfast, Bradford, Camden, Glasgow, Leicester, Liverpool, Milton Keynes, Sheffield and Teesside.
Proposals should be no more than 3 sides of A4 and should include the information as described above. Applications can be submitted from May to June each year and should be emailed to communitypartnership@santander.co.uk. Any late entries will not be considered.
The Selection Process
- 6 charities will be chosen from the applications and invited to present in August
- 3 charities will be short-listed to go forward to a staff vote in September
- The winning charity will be notified in October
Due to the high level of applications we receive we are unable to provide feedback on charities that do not go through to selection.

Charitable advertising
Sponsorship of individuals or third party fundraising initiatives
Single religious or ethnic groups
Charities outside the UK
Specialist school status
