£4,300 at the end of the rainbow for local charity
28 June 2012
The Rainbow Centre in Scarborough has banked a £4,300 donation from the Santander Foundation to enable them to extend their 'Rainbow Money' project.
Rainbow Money was established in 2010 and offers debt advice and independent support to community members struggling with their finances. The donation will enable the charity to train a new team of volunteers to extend the project to the Eastfield region, one of the community's larger areas of social housing.
Simon Watterson, Director of the Rainbow Centre said: "We are really thrilled to receive funding from the Santander Foundation to support our on-going projects in the Scarborough district. The support we have received from the Foundation will enable us to offer further support and budgeting advice to individuals and families who need it most. Financial literacy is a vital skill, particularly at the moment, and this support will help us to spread the word."
Anoushka Brown, Communications Manager at Santander said: "The Santander Foundation makes hundreds of donations every year to good causes around the UK to support disadvantaged people through education and training projects. We were very impressed by the work of The Rainbow Centre and were keen to help them deliver money management skills to residents in Scarborough."
