Changemakers bank £10,000 from Santander Foundation

Twenty young people in Gateshead will benefit from a new leadership development programme, after a local charity banked £10,000 from the Santander Foundation to cover the costs of the project.

Changemakers works with young people, including those who are not in education, employment or training, to help unlock their leadership potential.  The donation has enabled the charity to launch their new programme, 'Changemakers Experience', which builds skills such as self-awareness, public speaking and decision making through a series of staged scenarios.  At the end of the project it is hoped that the 20 individuals, most of whom do not have any formal qualifications, will have the confidence to achieve their employment goals.

Adam Nichols, Chief Executive at Changemakers said: "We are delighted to receive the funding from the Santander Foundation.  The donation will allow us to continue our critical work supporting young people to develop their leadership skills and gain confidence to find employment."

Anoushka Brown, Communications Manager at Santander said: "The Santander Foundation makes hundreds of donations every year to good causes around the UK to support disadvantaged people through education and training projects.  We are delighted to be supporting Changemakers with their new leadership development programme and hope that many people find it of great benefit."
