21 April 2011

Hundreds of disadvantaged people in Chelmsford who are in need of financial guidance are set to benefit from an outreach programme after the local Citizens Advice Bureau secured a donation of £8,475 from the Santander Foundation.

The Financial Skills for Life initiative will teach all who take part basic budgeting skills and provide them with the knowledge and confidence to make informed decision about their money in the future.

Russell Mynott, Manager at Chelmsford Citizen's Advice Bureau said: "Financial education is becoming an increasing part of the work of our Bureau and we are very grateful for this donation from the Santander Foundation which will enable us to continue and develop our Financial Skills for Life programme in the community.  Possessing the basic financial skills to make informed decisions at key points in life can mean the difference between a secure future and a desperate struggle for members of our community."

Anoushka Brown, Communications Manager at Santander said: "The current economic climate has resulted in many people needing quality advice on how to manage their finances responsibly.  We are delighted that we have been able to support this initiative as it will have a positive impact on many people's lives."
