Santander Foundation gives a funding boost to local charity

A local charity which aims to reduce social deprivation by providing education and training has banked £8,045 from the Santander Foundation to provide a money management training course to local women from black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) backgrounds.

Jobs Education and Training (JET), which is based in the heart of a deprived inner city ward of Derby, will use the donation to deliver the ESOL accredited course to around 30 local women.  During the course, participants will learn the basics of money management, an understanding of the banking system and techniques for household budgeting.

Peter Bartlett, Business Development Director, at JET said: "We are indebted to the Santander Foundation for their financial support for this crucial work. Many local BAME Women need qualifications, a better command of the English language and independence in money management in order to widen their horizons and pursue their aspirations. This project will do all these things and significantly benefit our community at large"

Anoushka Brown, Communications Manager at Santander said: "The Santander Foundation is always on the look out for good causes that need assistance, with a particular focus on education and training for disadvantaged people.  We are delighted that we have been able to support this initiative as it will have a positive impact on many people's lives."
