28 May 2012
The Spark Children's Arts Festival is celebrating after securing a donation of £7,500 from the Santander Foundation, meaning the show can go on for the festival's 'At your School' programme.
'At Your School' is central to the festival's education programme and works to engage, empower, educate and inspire the next generation by enhancing communication skills, build confidence and develop understanding. The programme takes performances and workshops into Leicester's primary and pre-schools and provides high quality arts experiences to stimulate learning about subjects across the curriculum. Thanks to the donation around 50 performances and workshops will be delivered to schools across Leicestershire.
Tricia Kelly, Development Manager at The Spark said: "The festival is really pleased to have received this generous donation from the Santander Foundation. The 'At Your School' programme delivers high quality arts experiences to stimulate and excite children and encourage them to learn in new ways. It is one of the festival's best ways to help improve the well being of children living in challenging circumstances as the programme is directly targeted at schools located in disadvantaged areas of Leicester."
Anoushka Brown, Communications Manager at Santander said: "The Santander Foundation makes hundreds of donations every year to good causes around the UK to support disadvantaged people through education and training projects. We are delighted to have been able to support the 'At Your School' programme and hope that many school children find it both enjoyable and educational."
